Dr Christoph Thelen


Dr Christoph Thelen graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He is also a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada and has the post graduate JCPTGP Certificate of the United Kingdom. He has worked in Australia since 1996 and over the past 15 years has worked exclusively in the field of Skin Cancer Medicine.

He has both worked and studied in Australia, South Africa, Canada and the United Kingdom has extensive experience in Skin Cancer Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, General Practice, Aboriginal Medicine and Rural Medicine, He has held several senior medical positions since his arrival in Australia. These include Director of CBD Skin Cancer Clinic since 2009, Medical Superintendent in Queensland for a period of 4 years and Medical Officer in Charge at Canterbury Hospital in Sydney for a further period of 4 years.

Dr Thelen is a member of the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand. He has specific training and broad experience in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of all forms of Skin Cancer. He always keeps abreast of any new developments in this exciting and ever-changing field and regularly takes part in continuing medical education.

In Dr Thelen's free time, he loves sports, especially working out at the gym, running and tennis. He also enjoys spending time with his family, friends and his Boston Terrier, Jersey.

Dr Iris Weingarten


Dr Iris Weingarten graduated from the University of Sydney in 1985. She worked both as a registrar in Royal Canberra Hospital and as a consultant for HSA, before moving to work exclusively in Skin Cancer Medicine in the year 2000. She later obtained her Diploma of Dermatology in 2003 from the University of Wales in Cardiff, UK.

Dr Weingarten has owned and operated several Skin Cancer Clinics in Sydney and Regional NSW. She joined CBD Skin Cancer Clinic in 2012 after selling her Skin Cancer Clinics.

She has specific training and broad experience in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of all forms of Skin Cancers. Dr Weingarten regularly attends Skin Cancer Conferences both in Australia and abroad to keep her knowledge up-to-date.

Dr Weingarten also takes her passionate dedication to skin cancer prevention into her weekends, where you can find her volunteering as the doctor on the tall ship James Craig. When she is not sailing, Dr Weingarten enjoys solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles beside a steaming mug of herbal tea.

Dr Wei Yen


Dr Wei Yen was born and raised in Adelaide, graduating from University of Adelaide in 1994. He commenced his career working as a Resident in Emergency and Cardiology in Adelaide. He spent several years training and gaining experience in Central London Hospitals such as St Mary’s in Paddington and the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead.

After returning to Sydney in 2000 he developed a particular focus on Skin Cancer, Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. He has extensive specialised training in the diagnosis of Melanoma and other skin cancers, including surgical removal. He concentrates on the prevention, early diagnosis and early intervention for skin cancer patients in Australia. He also has a background in cosmetic dermatology, laser skin rejuvenation, and hair restoration surgery and medical treatment.

He has obtained certification with the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Yen attends regular conferences on current developments in medical and surgical treatment of skin cancer in primary care. He has worked exclusively in this field of medicine for over a decade.

He continually reviews the latest technologies, research and developments in the treatment of skin cancer. He has consulted over 60 000 patients and treated over 10 000 skin cancers and precancer.

When Dr Yen is not working, he enjoys social tennis and plays golf. He also finds relaxation in strumming on an acoustic guitar and painting landscapes in oils on canvas or linen. It goes without saying that he loves spending time with his wife, 2 young daughters and faithful Abyssinian Lux.
